How this tool works
Methods follow the Cochrane Handbook and the ICMR
Beginner's Guide for Systematic Reviews (Sinha, Menon & John). Results reproduce
the output of the R meta package and RevMan for the same input.
Pooling
Inverse variance, Mantel-Haenszel and Peto methods, with fixed effect and random effects models. Between-study variance uses DerSimonian-Laird, REML, ML, Paule-Mandel or Sidik-Jonkman, with an optional Knapp-Hartung adjustment for small numbers of studies.
Heterogeneity
Cochran's Q, I², H and tau² with confidence intervals, plus a prediction interval. I² is reported against the Cochrane interpretation bands, and Baujat, Galbraith and L'Abbe plots locate the studies responsible for it.
Publication bias
Funnel plots with pseudo confidence limits, Egger's regression test, the Begg and Mazumdar rank correlation test, and Duval & Tweedie trim-and-fill to estimate how much the pooled result would move if missing studies were restored.
Sensitivity
Leave-one-out and cumulative meta-analysis, subgroup analysis with a test for subgroup differences, meta-regression on a study-level covariate, and trial sequential analysis against the heterogeneity-adjusted required information size.
